A memorial service for Dorothy Ann Connor Carter of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, will be Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 2 p.m., at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Jim Parker officiating. (Graveside service that morning, 11 a.m., at Masonic Cemetery conducted by nephew Damon Parker and a family visitation right before the service at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. There will also be a viewing at the funeral home on Monday evening, December 11, 2023, from 5-7p.m.). Mrs.CarterpassedawaySaturday,December 9, 2023, at Heritage Park Village Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant.

Ann was born June 13, 1928, in Omaha, Texas, to Guy W. & Edith Miller Connor. She was a 1945 graduate of Omaha High School and lived all of her life in the Omaha/Daingerfield/Mt Pleasant area. She modeled briefly in Dallas out of high school and then trained and worked as Central operator for General Telephone in Daingerfield and then as office manager for Doctors Rutledge and Lee in Daingerfield and then at Lone Star Steel Company as secretary to the plant physician. Ann was a long-time member of the North Jefferson Church of Christ. Throughout her life Ann loved to sing and perform and was 19831984 president of the Euterpean Club of Mt. Pleasant.

Ann married Steve Spurger in 1949. After Steve’s death in 1969, she married Bill Mitchener in 1971 and after Bill passed away in 1985, she married Billy Carter in 1987. Billy died in 2005.

She is survived by her Connor family nieces & nephews: Roy Parker & Yvonne Parker and their sons Michael, Preston & Chris, Jean Delafield and her daughter Susan, John & Janet Parker and their sons Damon, Colin & Connor, Emily Ann Parker, and by her nephew’s widow Della Connor and their daughter Alanna. She is also survived by her Spurger family nieces and nephews: Paul & Leslie Penland and their children John Walter, Chris & Lura, Melissa & Mark Lemons and their daughters Courtney & Colleen, Pamela Rundell, and by her deceased nephew’s son, Morgan Rundell. She is also survived by her Mitchener family: Edwin & Bettie Joe Forsythe and their children Chris, Cassie & Kyle and by her Carter family: Alan & Kay Carter and their children Jennifer & Charley; Shelley Pool and her daughters Allison & April; Mark & Melba Carter and their daughter Lindsey. There are also many great, great-great and greatgreat- great nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, sister Helen Connor Parker & her husband Roy, brother Tom M. Connor & his wife Virginia, nephew M. Scott Connor; her great nephews Kevin & Kyle Delafield; her Spurger in-laws C.A. & Sylvia Rundell & Johnny & Hortense Penland and Spurger great-nephew Matthew Rundell.

Ann’s family offers a special “thank you” to the staff at Heritage Park Village, Cypress Hospice, and to her personal caregivers during the last 5 weeks of her life, Charity Espinoza and Andrea Anguiano.
