Eddie Claire “Gran” Kent, 97, of Mount Pleasant, Texas passed December 12th, 2023, having been surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 28, 1926, to Earl and Mable Mullican in Eunice, Louisiana.
Mrs. Kent graduated from DeQuincy High School in 1944. Shortly after graduation she moved to Shreveport, LA to live with her oldest sister and attend Draughon Business School. Following graduation in 1946, she worked for several local companies. One of the fondest jobs she held during this time was with an oil company where she plotted and colored the leasehold maps for the various reserves.
On February 15th, 1953, she married her childhood sweetheart, Dr. Glen Kent and they remained sweethearts as husband and wife for 63 years until hisdeathin2016. Theirmarriagecarriedthemfrom Louisiana to homes in Channelview, Gladewater and finally Mount Pleasant.
Eddie Claire loved Jesus and was very involved in the Baptist Church teaching various classes, singing in the choir, and serving on numerous committees. She was a devoted wife and mother. During her Gladewater years, she held leadership roles in the PTA, Three Arts Club, Music Club as well as the Gregg County Auxiliary Club.
She is survived by her two children, and their spouses, Kevin and Jill Kent of Mount Pleasant, and Katie and Philip Walker of Royce City and her granddaughters and grand sons-in-law Rachel and Jourdan Pollock, Leah and Tyler Russell, Kaitlyn and James Fugate, Kinsey and Aaron McConnell, Klaire and Chad Smith, Kallie and Luke Philips, Karson Emily Kent and great grandsons Glen Kent and Malakai James Philips and great granddaughter Abigail Claire Russell.
There will be a time of visitation at First Baptist Church Mount Pleasant on Saturday, December 30th at 10 AM followed by a service at 11, burial at 2 PM at Gladewater Memorial Park in Gladewater, Texas.
