Former Tiger hurler one step closer to reaching the big leagues

Michael Kopech, a former Mount Pleasant High School graduate, was promoted from his AA club in Birmingham, Alabama to the AAA White Sox club in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a huge step for Kopech as it puts him at the last stop before making his Major League debut.

This past Monday Kopech made his first start for his new club, and did not disappoint. Kopech came out shaky in the first two innings showing apparent nerves, as he was having trouble with his location. He would however work his way out of trouble, allowing only two runs in his time on the mound. On the night Kopech would finish with 2 runs on 6 hits, giving up 2 walks while striking out 4 in 5 innings of work. After the game, in an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Kopech had this to say, "The first couple of innings, it was a little rough," Kopech said.
